Contralateral Cortical Subarachnoid Hemorrhage as a Manifestation of Hyperperfusion Syndrome after Carotid Artery Stenting
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome is a rare but serious complication of carotid revascularization, and characterized by ipsilateral headache, hypertension, seizures, focal neurological deficits. Therefore, treatment strategies are directed towards regulation blood pressure limitation rises in cerebral perfusion to prevent edema or hemorrhage, especially during several days after endarterctomy stenting. We report the unique case patient who suffered from contralateral cortical subarachnoid hemorrhage artery stenting, despite well-controlled pressure.

Delayed Cerebral Hyperperfusion Syndrome Three Weeks after Carotid Artery Stenting Presenting as Status Epilepticus
Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome (CHS) is increasingly recognized as an uncommon, but serious, complication subsequent to carotid artery stenting (CAS) and carotid endarterectomy (CEA). The onset of CHS generally occurs within two weeks of CEA and CAS, and a delay in the onset of CHS of over one week after CAS is quite rare. We describe a patient who developed CHS three weeks after CAS with sta...

The cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome is a very rare complication after revascularization of the carotid artery and accompanied by postoperative or postinterventional hypertension in almost all patients. We report a case of a 77-year-old man who developed a complete aphasia and increased right-sided weakness following endovascular treatment of severe occlusive disease of the left internal caroti...

OBJECTIVES The study defined the incidence of cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome and intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) and the risk factors for their development following carotid artery stenting (CAS). BACKGROUND Hyperperfusion syndrome and ICH can complicate carotid revascularization, be it endarterectomy or CAS. Although extensive effort has been devoted to reducing the incidence of ischemic str...
متن کاملIndocyanine green kinetics with near-infrared spectroscopy predicts cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome after carotid artery stenting
BACKGROUND Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome (HPS) is a potentially life-threatening complication following carotid artery stenting (CAS) and carotid endoarterectomy (CEA). Early prediction and treatment of patients at risk for HPS are required in patients undergoing CAS because HPS occurs significantly earlier after CAS than CEA. Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is often used for monitoring, a...

Thirteen months later, in November 2002, she was referred for treatment of a carotid restenosis. The patient had been asymptomatic since the first procedure. When assessed at our institution, the patient showed a residual mild, right hemiparesis. Doppl er ultrasound revealed 80% stenosis of the left ICA and common carotid artery (CCA). There was also a high-grade left external carotid artery st...
